GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING

THE NORTHWEST DISTRICT JR. LIVESTOCK SHOW

NOTICE:  There are MANY changes and additions throughout all sections of this publication.  Please read all sections carefully.  Exhibitors are responsible for compliance with all rules. 

I.  Interpretations, Amendments and Violations
  1. The Northwest District Jr. Livestock Show, through its authorized superintendents and division committees, reserves the final and absolute right to interpret the rules and to determine and settle all questions and differences connected with or incidental to the show.  Any violation of these rules will automatically result in disqualification.
  2. Exhibitors are required to familiarize themselves with all rules.
  3. Failure to comply with these rules and regulations will cause forfeiture of premiums and privileges and will be considered sufficient cause to bar said exhibitor from future participation in the Northwest District Jr. Livestock Show.

II. Nonliability to Exhibitors and Patrons

  1. Exhibitors and spectators assume the risk of damage or loss either to persons or property from all and every case including fire, the elements, violations of law or regulations either on the part of the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce, its servants, agents or employees; and being the understanding and agreement between the exhibitors and spectators that the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce incurs no liability or obligation to them other than to permit them the use of the facilities and grounds of the Garfield County Fair Property. 

III. Eligibility
  1. This show is limited to Oklahoma 4-H Club members and/or FFA Agriculture Education members whose Chapter or Club is in the following counties:  Alfalfa, Blaine , Garfield , Grant, Kay, Kingfisher, Major, Noble, Woods or Logan. 
  2. Individuals barred from any other fair or show, holding membership with the International Association of Fairs and Expositions, will not be allowed to exhibit at the Northwest District Jr. Livestock Show.    
  3. Each junior exhibitor must be a bona fide member of an Oklahoma 4-H Club and/or Oklahoma FFA chapter. Youth can enroll in 4-H on their ninth birthday or at the beginning of the fall term of the 4th grade, whichever comes first.  Youth who have reached their 9th birthday and have a 4-H enrollment card on file in their respective County Extension Office prior to January 1 will be eligible to show at the Northwest District Jr. Livestock Show.  
  4. Members must not have graduated from high school or the equivalent before January 1 of the year of the show. 
  5. For animal species where nominations are required (steers, lambs), the youth must follow the appropriate procedures as set forth by the Oklahoma Youth Expo and must declare organization affiliation at the time of nomination. 
  6. FFA members must have paid their dues by February 1 of the year of the show.
  7. The Agricultural Education Instructor or Extension agent in charge of submitting entries and signing the exhibitor show entry card will certify that to the best of his/her knowledge, the exhibitor and the animal entered are duly qualified and meet the ownership requirement and other show rules and regulations of this Show.
  8. Youth who have been declared ineligible to participate in extracurricular activities by their local school administration will be declared ineligible to participate in this show.  It will be the responsibility of the local school administration to notify the student's family and the show management if a particular student is ineligible to participate. 

IV. Ownership

Swine – on or before December 1, 2007

Sheep – on or before November 1, 2007

Steers – on or before October 22, 2007

Heifers – on or before January 1, 2008

goats – on or before December 1, 2007

V.  Entry Requirements

1.      Completed and signed entry applications must be at the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce offices ( 210 Kenwood Blvd. ) by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Entries received after this deadline will be charged double the fee listed.  All entries should be printed or typewritten.  Illegible or incomplete entries will be returned and entry fee forfeited.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  No Refunds. 

2.      Complete entry applications include:

                  a.     A completed and signed entry form for EACH exhibitor.

                  b.     ONE completed school or club entry form.

                  c.     All entry fees

                  d.     All hog entries must include pseudo rabies papers.  A copy of pseudo rabies papers or validated herd certificate must be attached either to each exhibitor entry or one copy of a master pseudo rabies or validated herd certificate must be attached to the club/chapter entry form.

3.      Individual entries will not be accepted.  All entries must be submitted with a school FFA Chapter or county 4-H Club.

                       

VI. Entry Fees

All entries are due by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008.  Entries submitted after this deadline will be charged double the fee listed.

Address and telephone numbers must be included on all personal checks. 

VII. Entering the Fairgrounds

  1. Agriculture Education Instructors or Extension Educators are required to sign for their entries FFA Chapter or 4-H Club packet at the Show Office.  Packets include individual entry cards, stall assignments and other important information.  No animal will be admitted to stalls prior to this time. 
  2. Park all livestock trailers on the far west side of the parking lot.

VIII. Barn/Arena Rules

  1. Chapters will be allowed one blocking chute per three (3) head of cattle, one blocking stand per (5) head of sheep and one set of scales per chapter or club. Extra blocking chutes, blocking stands or scales will be permitted for an additional charge of $25 for each.
  2. Barn 1 will not be available at any time during the 2008 Northwest District Junior Livestock Show.    
  3. The barn which houses the show ring will be closed each evening 30 minutes after the completion of the show.  One-half of the lights will be turned off each evening at 11:00 p.m. in the barn where the animals are stalled.
  4. NO food, tables, crock pots or the like will be set up in any of the Garfield County Fairground buildings. 
  5. Stalls and pens must be kept clean.  Schools or clubs leaving carpet after the show will be assessed a $100 cleanup fee. 
  6. No straw allowed on fairgrounds.         
  7. There will be no washing of animals outside the wash racks.
  8. All manure should be placed in the receptacles east of the pavilion.

IX. Conduct

  1. The Northwest District Junior Livestock Show Committee adopts the " Oklahoma 4-H and FFA Show Ring Code of Ethics, revision 8/8/95 ."
  2. Only exhibitors and show officials will be allowed in the show ring while animals are being judged.      
  3. All exhibitors are encouraged to wear a vest, shirt, t-shirt, or jacket of the appropriate color of the organization they represent.
  4. Misconduct on the part of any exhibitor may result in their disqualification from the show and forfeiture of any awards or premiums.                          

X.  Showing

  1. Each exhibitor must show their own animal unless they have more than one in a class or they have a signed statement from their Agriculture Education instructor or Extension Educator indicating illness or other school activity.
  2. If an exhibitor/animal does not appear for the correct class and should have been in a previous, lighter-weight class, they are disqualified.  
  3. Misrepresenting the age of the animal or the class in which it is shown is prohibited.
  4. A total of four (4) lambs (may be ewes or wethers), four (4) swine (may be barrow or gilt), four (4) wether goats, and four (4) steers may be shown by one exhibitor in the market classes and four (4) heifers and (4) doe goats in breeding classes.  

XI. Care and Grooming

  1. All exhibitors are to care for and groom their animals throughout the show. 
  2. The superintendent in charge will have the authority to remove from the show any animal if it poses a threat to others or is neglected by owner.  
  3. The use of any drug or chemical compound that is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in meat animals is prohibited.  All animals shall be subject to tests for substances that exceed the acceptable levels established by the United States Department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug Administration, the Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank and the Environmental Protection Agency.  A positive test will result in disqualification.  The owner shall assume full responsibility for any violation of the FDA regulations concerning withdrawal time on all medication.  A licensed veterinarian should administer all medication unless one is not available.  All exhibitors must contact the specie superintendent whenever medication needs to be administered.  Proper documentation must be completed prior to any medication being given.
  4. Any attempt to change natural color of an animal, either purebred or crossbred, by changing the color of hair, fleece or skin at any point, spot or area of the animal's body is prohibited.
  5. Treating or massaging any part of the body internally or externally with an irritant, counter-irritant, including air, or other substance to temporarily straighten a weak back or loin or produce unnatural animation is prohibited.                   
  6. Minimizing the effect of crampiness by feeding or injecting drugs, depressants or applying packs or using any artificial contrivance or therapeutic treatment except normal exercise is prohibited.

Rule XII. Payment of Premiums

  1. Class placing checks may be picked up in the Show Office one hour after the completion of a class.  Premium checks will NOT be mailed. 
  2. Misconduct on the part of any exhibitor may result in their disqualification from the show and forfeiture of any awards or premiums.                           
  3. The Northwest District Jr. Livestock Show reserves the right to prorate premiums if necessary. 

XIII. Protests

1.      Contact the Northwest District Jr. Livestock Show Superintendent for information on protest policy and procedure.  All protests must be made before the selection of the grand or supreme of the respective species and must accompany a $250 deposit. 

XIV. Showmanship Contest

  1. The purpose of this program is to encourage showmanship and effort among our exhibitors. All exhibitors in each class will be competing for showmanship in that class. 
  2. An exhibitor may only win one showmanship award per species. 
  3. All exhibitors will be competing for showmanship upon entry to the ring, whether their animal is placed in the class or not.  Therefore, exhibitors are encouraged to use best efforts of showmanship at all times while present in the ring. 
  4. All decisions by the judges as to showmanship will be final.               

XV. Lamb Lead Contest

1.      The objective of the lamb lead is to present the participant and the animal in the most attractive manner possible, to promote the use of wool and sheep products, and to improve the image of the sheep show.  The contest is designed to present the beauty and versatility of the wool fiber as well as the lamb.  High fashion is not the ultimate goal, rather clothing which is appropriate for the personality and life style of each participant.

2.      Judging Standards

Person:                                   30 points First impression, posture, poise, grooming

                                              10 points Ability to answer questions

Garment Selection:                 30 points Fit, color, design, accessories

Sheep:                                     15 points General appearance, cleanliness, trim job

15 points Training, handles easily, appears to have                         been worked with

3.      Entry forms will be available at your local County Extension office or from your Vocational Agriculture instructor.  All contestants must complete an entry form and submit it to the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce no later than 5:00 p.m. , Wednesday, February 20, 2008.  Entry fee is $10.00.  Entries submitted after this deadline will be charged double the fee listed.

4.      A description of your garment(s) design and details, including color, accessories, etc. must be included with your entry form.  Also include personal comments concerning the garment such as new techniques you have learned, why it was purchased, where it will be worn, etc. and your hobbies and activities. 

5.      The contest is open to all 4-H and FFA members, male and female.

6.      Divisions: Junior – aged 9-13 and Senior – aged 14 years older.  Age as of January 1 of the year of the show.

7.      The garments must be a minimum of 60% wool and may be purchased or self-made. 

8.      Participants cannot enter same garments more than once in District Contest.

9.      A five-minute interview is conducted at the OSU Extension Office (316 E. Oxford) to establish and probe the participant's knowledge of construction techniques, proper care techniques for wool garments, knowledge of the wool fiber, preparation of lamb as a food product, use of lamb and sheep products in society and sheep and wool production.

10.  A ewe or market lamb must be led in the class for the Lead Portion of the contest.  The animal does not have to be owned by the contestant.  The Lead Portion of the contest will be in the Northwest District Jr. Livestock Show Ring.

11.  Contestants must make their own arrangements for the use of a lamb at the show.

12.  The lamb must be trained to lead with a halter.  Animals must not wear anything except a halter.

XVI. Premium Sale Auction

1.      The auction will be held in the Show Arena, Monday, March 3, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.

2.      THE 2008 PREMIUM SALE WILL BE BONUS PREMIUM ONLY.  NO FLOORS WILL BE SOLD.  EACH EXHIBITOR WILL RETAIN OWNERSHIP OF THEIR ENTRY.

3.      IN THE PREMIUM SALE FOR 2008, THERE WILL BE:  25 HEAD OF LAMBS, 25 HEAD OF SWINE, 25 HEAD OF STEERS, 5 HEAD OF WETHER GOATS, 2 HEAD OF HEIFERS, AND 2 HEAD OF DOE GOATS.

4.      STEERS, SHEEP, AND SWINE BREED CHAMPIONS ARE GUARANTEED FOR THE PREMIUM SALE SUBJECT TO RULE #5 (BELOW).

5.      EXHIBITORS WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO SELL ONLY ONE ENTRY IN THE PREMIUM SALE , THUS SPECIE ALTERNATES WILL BE SELECTED.

6.        SALE ORDER SELECTION BY SPECIE:

a.      SHEEP, SWINE, AND STEER PREMIUM SALE ORDERS SHALL BE DETERMINED BY A LINE UP OF EACH CLASS, BY PLACING, WITHIN THE RESPECTIVE BREEDS. THE BREED LINES WILL SHOW FOR FINAL SALE ORDER SELECTION FOLLOWING THE SELECTION OF THE GRAND CHAMPION, RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION, AND BRONZE MEDALLION.  ALTERNATES WILL BE SELECTED IN CASE OF DUPLICATE SALE PARTICIPANTS.

b.      THE SUPREME CHAMPION HEIFER AND RESERVE SUPREME CHAMPION HEIFER WILL BE SELECTED FOR THE SALE .  ALTERNATES WILL BE SELECTED IN CASE OF DUPLICATE SALE PARTICIPANTS.

c.      THE WETHER GOAT FINAL SALE ORDER SHALL BE DETERMINED BY DIVISIONAL LINE UP.  ALTERNATES WILL BE SELECTED IN CASE OF DUPLICATE SALE PARTICIPANTS.

d.      THE GRAND CHAMPION DOE AND RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION DOE WILL BE SELECTED FOR THE SALE .  ALTERNATES WILL BE SELECTED IN CASE OF DUPLICATE SALE PARTICIPANTS.

e.      ONCE AN EXHIBITOR’S ENTRY IS SELECTED FOR FINAL SALE ORDER THE REMAINING ENTRIES OF THAT EXHIBITOR WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE REMAINING FINAL SALE ORDER SELECTION OF THAT SPECIE.

f.        IN THE EVENT, ONE EXHIBITOR QUALIFIES FOR THE PREMIUM SALE IN MORE THAN ONE SPECIES; THE EXHIBITOR WILL DECIDE WHICH ANIMAL TO SELL.

SWINE RULES AND REGULATIONS

Ownership - on or before December 1, 2007

Judge:  Kelton Mason ( Texas )

I.  Swine Entries

1.      All hog entries must include pseudo rabies papers.  A copy of pseudo rabies papers or validated herd certificate must be attached either to each exhibitor entry or one copy of a master pseudo rabies or validated herd certificate must be attached to the club/chapter entry form. 

2.      All market swine (may be barrow or gilt) exhibited shall be individually identified with an ear tag permanently affixed to the right ear, have a negative pseudorabies test conducted after December 1 and be identified on the test chart by said ear tag number. 

II. Swine Exhibition

  1. EXHIBITORS MAY SHOW FOUR (4) SWINE (MAY BE BARROW OR GILT).
  2. There will be no official weighing of swine prior to judging.  The exhibitor will be responsible for weighing the hog.  Two official scales will be provided for the weighing of swine prior to judging. 
  3. At least the top five (5) animals in each class will be weighed upon completion of judging.  Those weighing more than ten (10) pounds above the official estimated weight will be eliminated from the show.  If swine weighs out on official scale #1, a reweigh will be granted on official scale #2.  Only one attempt per scale will be granted. 
  4. Weight classification will range from 210 pounds to 280 pounds.  All Swine weights estimated outside this range will be sifted.                        
  5. Swine entry card copies, showing the weight of the animal must be turned into the Show Office by 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008 for all breeds. The weight on the entry card copy and the original for each swine must match.  Entry cards shall be printed or typed.  Any illegible entry cards will be discarded and entry fee forfeited.                             
  6. Swine will be classified as they enter the show ring.
  7. All Swine in purebred classes must have healed ear notches.  Those without will be shown as crossbreds.
  8. Paint, powder, dye, white wash, oil, or other coat dressing will not be permitted.
  9. A BREED WILL BE RECOGNIZED IF THERE IS A MINIMUM OF 20 CONFIRMED ENTRIES PER BREED, PRIOR TO CLASSIFICATION. 
  10. IF A BREED FAILS TO MEET MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AS STATED ABOVE, THOSE ANIMALS MAY BE RECOGNIZED IN AN ALL OTHER BREEDS DIVISION (AOB).  IF AOB FAILS TO MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT, THEN THOSE ENTRIES WILL BE SHOWN WITH CROSSBREDS.

SHEEP RULES & REGULATIONS

Ownership – on or before November 1, 2007

Judge: Heath Guymon ( Kansas )

I.  Sheep Entries

  1. All lambs showing in the 2008 NWDJLS must have been nominated for the Oklahoma Youth Expo.
  2. All ewe lambs must be individually identified with a USDA tag and/or a scrapie flock certification program tag.

II. Sheep Exhibition

  1. Show order will be: Southdown, Dorset, Shropshire, Speckle, Hampshire, Natural, Suffolk , and Crossbred. Classification order will be the same as show order.
  2. EXHIBITORS MAY SHOW FOUR (4) MARKET LAMBS (MAY BE EWE LAMBS OR WETHERS).
  3. The minimum weight of lambs is 80 pounds.  There will be no maximum weight.                    
  4. All market lambs must be slick shorn prior to classification (no wool above knees or hocks).
  5. There will be no official weighing of lambs prior to judging.  The exhibitor will be responsible for weighing the lambs.  Two official scales will be provided for the weighing of lambs prior to judging. 
  6. A MINIMUM OF THE TOP 3 ANIMALS IN EACH CLASS WILL BE WEIGHED UPON COMPLETION OF JUDGING. Those weighing more than five (5) pounds above the official estimated weight will be eliminated from the show.  If a lamb weighs out on official scale #1, a reweigh will be granted on official scale #2.  Only one attempt per scale will be granted.
  7. Lamb entry card copies showing the weight of their animals must be turned into the show officials during classification, Friday, February 29, 2008.  The weight on the entry card copy and the original for each lamb must match.  Entry cards shall be printed or typed.  Any illegible entry cards shall be discarded and entry fee forfeited.
  8. Artificial coloring will not be permitted for use on lambs during the entire show.  Any attempt to alter animal color or breed characteristics is prohibited.
  9. A BREED WILL BE RECOGNIZED IF THERE IS A MINIMUM OF 10 CONFIRMED ENTRIES PER BREED, AFTER CLASSIFICATION. 
  10. IF A BREED FAILS TO MEET MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AS STATED ABOVE, THOSE ANIMALS MAY BE RECOGNIZED IN AN ALL OTHER BREEDS DIVISION (AOB).  IF AOB FAILS TO MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT, THEN THOSE ENTRIES WILL BE SHOWN WITH CROSSBREDS.

GOAT RULES & REGULATIONS

I. Goat Entries

  1. All doe goats must be individually identified with a USDA tag and / or scrapie flock certification program tag.

II. Goat Exhibition

  1. EXHITIBORS MAY SHOW FOUR (4) DOE GOATS AND FOUR (4) WETHER GOATS.
  2. The minimum weight of goats is 50 pounds.  There will be no maximum weight.
  3. There will be no official weighing of goats prior to judging.  The exhibitor will be responsible for weighing the goats.  Two official scales will be provided for the weighing of goats prior to judging.
  4. A MINIMUM OF THE TOP 3 ANIMALS IN EACH CLASS WILL BE WEIGHED UPON COMPLETION OF JUDGING.  Those weighing more than five (5) pounds above the entry weight will be eliminated from the show.  If a goat weighs out on official scale #1, a reweigh will be granted on official scale #2.  Only one attempt per scale will be granted.
  5. Completed goat entry cards must be turned into the show office.  The entry card and entry card copy must match and be legibly printed.
  6. Goat classes will broken by weight. CLASSES WILL BE GROUPED INTO DIVISIONS. THE GROUPING OF CLASSES AND NUMBER OF DIVISIONS WILL BE DETERMINED AND SET BY THE GOAT COMMITTEE AFTER ENTRY CARDS HAVE BEEN TURNED IN.  CLASS WINNERS WILL COMPETE FOR THE TITLE OF DIVISION CHAMPION. THE DIVISION WINNERS WILL COMPETE FOR GRAND CHAMPION.  THE 2ND PLACE EXHIBITOR, FROM THE DIVISION IN WHICH THE GRAND IS SELECTED, SHALL BE ENTITLED TO COMPETE FOR RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION.   A BRONZE MEDALLION  AWARD RECIPIENT  WILL BE SELECTED
  7. Five (5) meat wether goats will be sold in the premium sale.
  8. THE GRAND CHAMPION AND RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION DOE GOATS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE PREMIUM SALE .
  9. Artificial coloring, paint, or powder will not be permitted for use on goats.  Any attempt to alter animal color or characteristics is prohibited.
  10. Length of Doe Goat hair is left to the discretion of the exhibitor. Meat goat entries must be sheared to a maximum of 3/8” residual hair length.
  11. BRACING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and will result in dismissal by the judge or superintendent. The animals must have all four feet on the ground. Animals must be shown with a collar used only to control the animal. Exhibitor can only briefly touch the animal with his body. Exhibitor can not use the collar to make the animal tense his muscles. Any violation will result in dismissal.

STEER RULES & REGULATIONS

I.  Steer Entries

  1. All Steers showing in the 2008 NWDJLS must have been nominated for the Oklahoma Youth Expo. 
  2. EXHIBITORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING THEIR STEER ENTRY (EAR TAG NUMBER & NOMINATED BREED) WITH THE INFORMATION PROVIDED ON THE OYE WEB SITE( www.okyouthexpo.com ).

II. Steer Exhibition

  1. EXHIBITORS MAY SHOW FOUR (4) STEERS.
  2. The minimum weight of steers is 1000 pounds.  There will be no maximum weight.
  3. THERE WILL BE NO OFFICIAL WEIGHING OF STEERS PRIOR TO JUDGING.  THE EXHIBITOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WEIGHING THEIR STEERS.  AN OFFICIAL SCALE WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THE WEIGHING OF STEERS PRIOR TO JUDGING.
  4. Classes will be determined by weight.  The top three (3) animals in each class will be weighed upon completion of judging.  Those weighing more than five percent (5%) above the official weight will be eliminated from the show.  No reweigh attempts will be granted.
  5. STEER ENTRY CARD COPIES, SHOWING THE WEIGHT OF THE ANIMAL MUST BE TURNED INTO THE SHOW OFFICE BY 6:30 P.M., WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2008. THE WEIGHT ON THE ENTRY CARD COPY AND THE ORIGINAL FOR EACH STEER MUST MATCH.  Entry cards shall be printed or typed.  Any illegible entry cards will be discarded and entry fee forfeited.
  6. The beef show will be blow and show. The use of paint, glue/adhesives and boning soaps will not be allowed. Animals will be checked before entering the ring and violators will be disqualified.
  7. No hair coloring will be allowed in grooming of all beef exhibits.  Any attempt to alter animal color or breed characteristics including the addition of hair or other added material, natural or man-made (excluding false tail switches) is prohibited.
  8. Tooth rule:  the tooth rule is not applicable for the 2008 NWDJLS.
  9. All beef exhibits will be subject to inspection and handling by the Cattle Superintendents and/or their agents at any time.    
  10. A BREED WILL BE RECOGNIZED IF THERE IS A MINIMUM OF 10 CONFIRMED ENTRIES PER BREED.
  11. IF A BREED FAILS TO MEET MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AS STATED ABOVE, THOSE ANIMALS MAY BE RECOGNIZED IN AN ALL OTHER BREEDS DIVISION (AOB).  IF AOB FAILS TO MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT, THEN THOSE ENTRIES WILL BE SHOWN WITH CROSSBREDS.
  12. STEER SHOW ORDER WILL BE POSTED AFTER CHECK-IN.

HEIFER RULES & REGULATIONS

Ownership – on or before January 1, 2008

I.  Heifer Entries

1.      Heifers will be shown in three divisions as follows:

         Purebred: as determined by breed association

Low-percentage: as determined by breed association

Commercial (non-registered): shown by weight

2.      Ten (10) or more entries must be confirmed before the breed will be shown.  In the case of less than 10 entries, those entries will be combined with the AOB.  No entry refunds will be given. 

3.      REGISTERED Heifer classes will be pre-broken as follows:

                        Junior Heifer Calf               Born after September 1, 2007

                        Senior Heifer Calf               May 1, 2007 – August 31, 2007

                        Spring Heifer Calf               January 1, 2007 – April 30, 2007

                        Junior Yearling                    September 1, 2006 – December 31, 2006

                        Summer Yearling                 May 1, 2006 – August 31, 2006

                        Senior Yearling                    January 2, 200– April 30, 2006

4.      Heifer class sizes will be limited to 10 heifers per class.  When more than 10 heifers are entered into an age category, that age category will be split into two or more separate age classes.  Additional classes will be added at the discretion of the heifer committee.

5.      Registered heifers will comply with individual breed association rules regarding purebred status. All heifers that have been issued low-percentage papers from their respective associations will be shown in the low percentage heifer division.

6.      No substitutions allowed.

7.      Commercial Heifer classes will be determined by weight.  The top three (3) animals in each class will be weighed upon completion of judging.  Those weighing more than five percent (5%) above the official weight will be eliminated from the show.  No reweigh attempts will be granted.

8.      Commercial Heifer exhibitors will be required to provide a breeders certificate to verify ownership.

9.      Heifer breed association applications will not be accepted, registration papers only.  Registration papers in the name of the exhibitor only.  NO fax copies, NO applications and NO pending documents will be accepted.

II. Heifer Exhibition

  1. EXHIBITORS MAY SHOW FOUR (4) HEIFERS.
  2. The Beef show will be blow and show. The use of paint, glue/adhesives and boning soaps will not be allowed. Animals will be checked before entering the ring and violators will be disqualified.
  3. No hair coloring will be allowed in grooming of all beef exhibits.  Any attempt to alter animal color or breed characteristics including the addition of hair or other added material, natural or man-made (excluding false tail switches) is prohibited.
  4. All beef exhibits will be subject to inspection and handling by the Cattle Superintendents and/or their agents at any time.   
  5. HEIFER SHOW ORDER WILL BE POSTED AFTER CHECK-IN. Divisions will be shown in order of: Purebred Division followed by Low Percentage Division, followed by Commercial Division.
  6. EACH DIVISION CHAMPION (PUREBRED, LOW PERCENTAGE, AND COMMERCIAL) WILL COMPETE FOR SUPREME CHAMPION HEIFER.  A BRONZE MEDALLION HEIFER WILL BE SELECTED.  THE SUPREME CHAMPION AND RESERVE SUPREME CHAMPION WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE PREMIUM SALE .
